A caregiver comfort checklist

A few practical things to arrange together before settling in with baby.

Parents, partners, grandparents: everyone brings their own way of being with a baby. A few shared habits can make the handover feel less hurried.

This is a household checklist, not a guide to lifting technique or medical care.

Before you sit down

  • Choose somewhere you can sit comfortably and stay alert.
  • Put a clean cloth and the essentials you need nearby.
  • Check that the next caregiver knows where to find them.
  • Talk through any product instructions together instead of guessing from a photo.

Small preparations count. You do not need to buy more things to make a useful space.

During a handover

Give each other time and attention. Say when you are ready, and make sure the person taking over has a secure hold before letting go.

Nido never replaces that hold. If you use it, it is a soft layer between your forearms for seated, awake, supervised moments. Keep your arms and hands securely supporting your baby at all times.

Nido is not a carrier, is not hands-free, and is not a seat or sleep product.

Afterward

Put reusable items back in their usual place and set aside anything that needs cleaning. Follow each item’s own care label.

And ask the simple question: what would make the next hold easier to prepare for? Sometimes the answer is a cloth within reach. Sometimes it is a turn for someone else.

Read the Nido holding guide and safe-use notes together before first use.
